Abstract

Conjunctival imprint cytology (CIC) offers valuable clues for the diagnosis and pathogenesis of conjunctival and corneal surface disorders. The technique encompasses the use of a membrane filter paper to pick up a layer of cells from the ocular surface. Membrane filters like cellulose acetate have been widely used for this technique. Non availability of the specialised filter paper led us to devise a simple yet effective way of diagnosing cases of Ocular surface Squamous Neoplasia (OSSN) with gentle scraping of the surface of the lesion with edge of a cover slip (Cover Slip Scrape Cytology).It gave us satisfactory and comparable morphological results.
