Abstract

Trabeculotomy is a surgical technique of lowering intraocular pressure in pediatric glaucoma patients with opaque cornea .Most critical step to ensure successful outcome is correct identification of the schlemm's canal. Normally blue white junction and perforating vessel are important surgical landmarks to identify the schlemm’s canal. But these markers fade away as the eyeball enlarges more with stretching of the limbus and obliteration of the typical blue white junction. In this video we demonstrate a novel method of identifying the Schlemm’s canal by using a 25 gauge light pipe. we are introducing 25 gauge light pipe into schlemm's canal before introducing Harms trabeculotome to correct identification of schlemm's canal that prevent inadvertent entry of trabeculotome into anterior chamber. Conclusion ; light pipe guided detection of schlemm’s canal is a simple, easy and feasible technique and can be a saviour of conventional trabeculotomy in difficult situations.
