Abstract

STUDY DESIGN:Case report
PURPOSE:To report a case of Goldenhar Syndrome with limbal dermoid and upper eyelid coloboma
METHOD:A 6 year old girl complains of fleshy mass in the RE and incomplete closure of LE due to defect in the upper eyelid since birth. A history along with ocular examination and general physical examination was done. A surgical correction for lid deformity was planned.
RESULTS:On slit lamp examination, 2 limbal dermoids measuring around 2mm were observed in the temporal and inferior aspects of the RE. An upper eyelid coloboma measuring 2×1 mm was noted in the LE. A nebular opacity was noted due to exposure keratopathy owing to incomplete closure of the LE. A preauricular skin tag was also found. The left upper eyelid deformity was surgically corrected and a part of the limbal dermoid was excised and sent for biopsy.
CONCLUSION:Our case highlights the importance of thorough ocular and systemic examination in all cases of Goldenhar Syndrome for effective management.
