Abstract
PURPOSE: To report a challenging case of phacoemulsification in traumatic cataract in young female
INTRODUCTION: Ocular trauma is the most common cause of monoocular blindness and ocular morbidity almost all over the world particularly in younger age group and it has always been a professional challenge to the ophthalmologist
MATERIAL & METHODS: A 41 year old female presented with complaint of diminution of vision in right eye since 1 year. She had history of penetrating trauma in right eye with wooden stick for which she was operated with corneal tear repair. USG B scan revealed no posterior segment pathology.
RESULTS: She was planned for right eye phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation. On one month follow up, her BCVA was 6/9.
CONCLUSION: Traumatic cataract resulting from ocular trauma is a common cause of ocular morbidity, especially in young population. Once the injury has occured, prevention of blindness depends upon early and efficient management techniques
