Abstract
Purpose:To study efficacy, safety between phacocapsulotomy & needle aspiaration in white intumescent cataract in terms of intra & postoperative complications.
Study design:Prospective observational longitudnal study.
Method:detailed history & evaluation of 60 individuals divided into 2 groups of 30 each satisfying the inclusion criteria.
Group 1-Phacocapsulotomy, Group 2-Needle aspiration.
Postoperatively we looked for visual outcome and complicationslike corneal edema, iritis, raised IOP noted on day1,day7,1st month.
Results-1(3%) patients of phacocapsulotomy had radial exyension of CCC compared to 3(10%) out of needle aspiration and also there was decrease in intralenticular pressurein 26(88%) in phacocapsulotomy and 15(50%) in needle aspirationboth findings were satistically significant.
Conclusion:Phacocapsulotomy technique is a simple ,controlled and effective technique that extends the possibility of routinely achieving a CCC and thus preventing argentinian flag sign.
