Abstract
STUDY DESIGN:-CROSS SECTIONAL DESIGN
PURPOSE:-TO ASSESS THE VISUAL ACUITY OF BUS DRIVERS
METHOD:-USING STANDARD SNELLENS CHART AT DISTANCE OF 6 METER, ISHIHARA CHART AND SNELLEN NEAR VISON CHART AT SOHRABGATE BUS STAND MEERUT.
RESULT:-92.7% MEET OR EXCEED THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR VISUAL ACUITY NECESSARY FOR DRIVING, 99% MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR COLOR VISION.
CONCLUSION:-THE FACT THAT 92.7% OF BUS DRIVERS MEET THE MINIMUM VISUAL ACUITY REQUIREMENTS INDICATES THAT THE INTERVENTIONS AND POLICIES CURRENTLY IN PLACE ARE LARGELY EFFECTIVE IN MAINTAINING THE NECESSARY VISUAL CAPABILITIES FOR SAFE DRIVING AND ASSURES SAFE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION , AS VISUAL ACUITY IS A CRITICAL FACTOR IN DRIVING PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY.
DESPITE THE POSITIVE FINDINGS, THERE IS ROOM FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SUCH AS IMPLEMENTING MORE ROBUST VISUAL HEALTH PROGRAMS, ENHANCING DRIVER EDUCATION REGARDING EYE CARE.
