Abstract
Purpose:To compare the efficacy & safety outcomes of KDB Goniotomy Versus NPDS combined with phacoemulsification in advanced glaucoma.Materials and methodology:Retrospective, interventional study. We included 114 patients with advanced glaucoma,of which 49 patients underwent KDB goniotomy+phacoemulsification(Group A) &65 patients underwent NPDS +phacoemulsification(Group B).Results:Baseline IOP in Group A&Group B was 15.47(4.78)&17.43(5.92)mmhg. There was no significant difference in mean IOP at all follow up visits(p=0.712).There was significant decrease inAGM in Group A than Group B(p<0.001).We observed stabilization of visual fields, visual acuity at 18 months follow-up.Failure rate was 13% in Group A and 12% in Group B at 18 months follow up.Conclusion: We observed non inferiority of KDB goniotomy+phacoemulsification over NPDS+phacoemulsification in advanced glaucoma with better efficacy, decrease in AGM & stabilization of visual fields without any major complications.
