Abstract
Study Design: Randomized Controlled Trial.
Purpose: To evaluate the ocular hypotensive efficacy and safety of netarsudil 0.02% ophthalmic solution as a monotherapy in patients with POAG at a tertiary health care center.
Methods: we enrolled 25 patients of POAG who presented to us. Patients were given netarsudil 0.02% ophthalmic solution at the baseline visit at recommended once daily dosage. Best-corrected visual acuity, fundus examination ,IOP measurement and adverse event assessments were recorded in five visits as follows, baseline visit at day 1, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks and 3 months.
Results: A statistically significant reduction in IOP was noted at all time durations (P < 0.00001) with the maximum reduction at 3 months with all patients achieving their target IOP. The adverse effects experienced by patients were not severe in the majority of cases. Conclusion: We found that netarsudil 0.02% ophthalmic solution when used as a monotherapy in POAG was both safe and effective.
