Abstract
Purpose: To identify different types of neurological association with childhood exotropia in patients attending tertiary care centre jharkhand. Method: This hospital based observational study was conducted from oct 2022 to April 2023. Patients with clinical diagnosis of exotropia of age <16 yrs and exotropia of >10 PD were included in the study. All data were collected using structured performa. Results: out of 264 patients(139 F,125 M) intermittent exotropia was most common(70.45%) followed by exotropia with neurological association(14.01%). we found that m/c neurological association was developmental delay(45.94%) followed by seizure with developmental delay(10.08%) and the least common was cerebral haemorrhage(5.40%). Exotropia with neurological association had a significantly earlier age of presentation comparing to other types. conclusion: This study recorded a large no. of cases of exotropia associated with neurological abnormalities which mainly include preterm and LBW children.
