Abstract
Purpose
Highlighting clinical features, diagnostics, and management of periocular plexiform neurofibroma (PNF), a rare subtype of NF1.PNF, subtype of NF1, also known as von Recklinghausen disease, is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by mutations in the NF1 gene, leading to aberrant proliferation of neural crest-derived cells
Methods
An 18-year-old male presented with a slowly progressive mass in the left upper eyelid with ptosis, confirmed by MRI.
Result
Management involves a multidisciplinary approach, with surgical excision aiming for complete resection while preserving visual function with frontal sling surgery.
Conclusion
Early recognition, accurate diagnosis, and timely intervention are crucial for optimizing patient care and minimizing morbidity associated with this rare neurogenic tumor.
