Abstract
Purpose:We present a case of skeptical supraorbital foreign body resulting from an occupational injury.
Study design:case report
Method:The patient came with heaviness of upper lid,2 months after the ocular trauma with a wood cutter.CECT was done and foreign body was present in supraorbital part of the left eye which was isodense to bone.So we were suspecting that it could be fractured bone, impacted bone or metallic FB.The foreign body was removed through superior orbitotomy approach. When skin incision was given greenish rubbery FB started appearing and it was removed completely.
Result:The foreign body was removed successfully and it was not a fractured or impacted bone or metallic FB.Scanning electron microscopy was consistent with plastic polymer.
Conclusion:This case highlights the importance of high index of suspicion for intraorbital foreign bodies in the correct clinical context and the need for increased awareness of plastic and polymer composite intraorbital foreign bodies.
