Purpose to study clinical profile and outcome in rare case of globe avulsion post RTA
Method : A 35year male came to emergency with protruding LE globe post RTA. The reaction in RE was normal with normal anterior segment and fundus, whereas in LE there was avulsed globe with subconjunctival hemorrhage, hazy cornea and hyphemia. Pupil was non reacting and horizontally oval .In NCCT head there was fracture of bony wall of B/ l orbit ,B/L nasal bone and bony nasal septum. As patient general condition was poor due to head trauma ,we reposited the globe after cantholysis and canthotomy , temporary tarsorrhaphy was done.
RESULT In follow up patient had 6/6 vision in RE and no pl in LE ,in LE fundus there was total retinal detachment with vitreous band suggesting traumatic retinal detachment.
Conclusion globe avulsion is a rare but critical medical emergency. Immediate action is crucial to preserve the eye.
