Abstract
Uveitis encompasses a broad range of disease process involving the uveal tract.
This study aims to describe the various demographic variables regarding uveitis patients in the North-eastern state of Manipur.
Study design: Cross- sectional study.
Sample size: Patients with uveitis attending the Department of Ophthalmology RIMS during the two year study period.
Study population: All consensual patients attending the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology with signs and symptoms of uveitis during the 24 months data collection period.
Grouping: Patients were grouped according to the anatomical classification of uveitis based on the International Uveitis study group classification system
387 new cases of uveitis were seen. Anterior uveitis was the most common type of uveitis encountered. Anterior uveitis 232 (60%), followed by posterior uveitis (119 cases, 30.7%), intermediate uveitis (19 cases, 5%), and panuveitis (17cases, 4.3%) were found.
