Abstract
Purpose:
Fungal keratitis proceeding to corneal ulcer can cause visual loss. Quick diagnosis and prompt treatment favour good prognosis. This report presents a case of fungal corneal ulcer of left eye in a HIV positive patient.
Method:
Patient presented with h/o trauma with vegetative material 8 days back, along with pain, DoV, swelling, redness, watering and photophobia in left eye since 8 days. A complete history was taken, wherein past history revealed tuberculosis infection 3 years back for which full course of ATT was taken. No other significant past surgical, personal or steroid use history. Complete general and systemic examination was performed. Vitals found stable and no other significant findings. Blood investigations, RPR and Serological tests were also carried out, wherein the patient was found to be reactive to HIV 1 antibodies. ESR was slightly raised (27mm/hr). Rest of the investigations were within normal limits.
