Abstract
Purpose- To find out causes, visual outcome, clinical features of indirect traumatic optic neuropathy. Material and method- it is retrospective observational study, demographic details, visual acuity, VEP, HVF, associated ocular complication, mode and time of treatment obtained all indirect TON patients. Results- Indirect TON patients are mainly male (94%) and RTA(65%), history of fall (19%), sports(11%), visual acuity loss more than 50% patients , visual acuity improve 16%, visual fields are recordable 15% of patients. commonly associated ocular complication in indirect TON patients – orbital fracture , sub conjunctival hemorrhage and angle recession. patient who received iv MP and oral steroids with in a week visual acuity improved greater than three line . Conclusion- RTA most common cause of indirect TON, iv MP along with oral steroid with in week help to improved vision. VEP is the prognostic factor for good visual outcome in indirect traumatic optic neuropathy patients.
