Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia on the choroidal thickness and macular ganglion cell complex thickness.
Methods: 50 patients with unilateral hyperopic anisometropic amblyopia, aged between 6 to 18 years were taken and their fellow hyperopic eyes were compared. The average macular ganglion cell complex thickness and sub-foveal choroidal thickness were measured. software of SPSS 28 was used to compare tabulated results. 20 of these patients were followed up after appropriate treatment and the new measurements were compared.
Results: sub-foveal choroidal thickness and macular ganglion cell thickness were significantly higher in the hyperopic anisometropic amblyopic group with a p-value of less than 0.0001 and 0.01 respectively. In the follow-up patients, post-treatment outcome measures between affected eyes and fellow eyes were non-significant.
Conclusion: Thickness was higher in the amblyopic eyes and reduced with response to treatment.
