Abstract
STUDY DESIGN-Prospective Case Control Study. Purpose- To set target refraction at the time of IOL implantation and view of undercorrection.METHODOLOGY- Prospective Case Control study in a tertiary care Hospital.60patients diagnosed with congenital cataract from 0-7 years were selected. Pre operative biometric parameter were calculated.Children less than 1 year were left Aphakic and those more than 1 year had Intraocular Lens implanted. Every month till 6 months of post surgery biometric Changes,Intraocular Pressure,Corneal Diameter were calculated. RESULT- The pseudophakic eyes had slower growth in axial length as compared to that of Aphakic and Phakic eyes and the hyperopia achieved was slightly less than the normal eyes. CONCLUSION- Pseudophakic eyes have a lower rate of axial length growth and keratometry change in comparison with Phakic eyes implying smaller undercorrection in emmetropic Intraocular Lens power for Indian pediatric eyes to achieve a moderate amount of hyperopia.
