Abstract
Study design-hospital based prospective cohort study
Purpose-to study the correlation between objective assessment of stress level in a patient with acute CSCR and their OCT findings
Method-a total of 27 patients with Acute CSCR were followed up over a period of 6 months. Along with detailed ocular examination, EDI-OCT was performed and the parameters were correlated with stress level using Standard stress scale (SSS) 11 battery item.
Result-Most common age group was 36-45 years with 81.5% males and rest females. 66.7% were from urban area. Mean BCVA improved progressively and the Sub foveal choroidal thickness reduced during the follow up however SRF persisted in 14.8% subjects at 3 months and were advised oral Eplerenone. SSS score range was 0.22-0.71. Patients with score mean of 0.52+-0.11 at first visit had presence of PEDs after 6 months(p-value 0.05,CI=95%)
Conclusion-Statistically significant association between higher stress levels and persistence of serous PEDs on serial OCTs.
