Abstract

AIM
To report a case of neurofibromatosis type 1 with ocular manifestation.
DESIGN
Case report.
METHOD
A 20-year-old boy presented with complaints of swelling in the right eyebrow, insidious in onset, gradually progressive, not associated with blurring of vision. Detailed ophthalmic examination including visual acuity, slit lamp examination and full body examination was done.
RESULTS
Ocular manifestations of neurofibromatosis like lisch nodules, plexiform neurofibroma and other signs of neurofibromatosis like café au lait spots, neurofibromas, axillary freckling was noted. Debulking surgery for plexiform neurofibroma of upper eyelid done. Ct scan was done to rule out optic glioma.
CONCLUSIONS
All cases of upper eyelid swellings should be thoroughly evaluated to not miss out a case like neurofibromatosis.
