Abstract

Eyelid coloboma is a rare congenital condition of absence of the development of eyelid tissue. A 27-year-old girl presented with upper eyelid coloboma left eye with corneal scar with diminution of vision. Coloboma was present since birth but the corneal opacity developed at the age of 4 years following a significant history of redness, eye ache and discharge from left eye. On examination she had complete upper eyelid coloboma at the medial one third with 40 percent defect in lid margin, with adherent leucomatous corneal opacity with neovascularization at the exposed area and shallow anterior chamber. Visual acuity on left eye is finger counting close to face. IOP of left eye by schiotz tonometer was 10.4 mmHg. USG B Scan of left eye was normal. She has undergone eyelid coloboma reconstruction by direct appositional closure with Tenzel’s semi-circular flap. Now patient is under follow-up and planned for total penetrating keratoplasty once the ocular surface physiology is established.
