Abstract
STUDY DESIGN: Observational study PURPOSE:To report a case of unilateral retinitis pigmentosa.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:55/F came with C/O DOV LE since childhood RE 3 months.BCVA RE: CF 2 mtrs(NIF), LE-HM.On ASE BE IMSC noticed.On Fundus examination (RE) exudates and edema in macular area with few microaneurysms in mid periphery. LE multiple bony spicule pigments in periphery and yellowish waxy disc with arteriolar attenuation noticed. On FFA RE showing microaneurysms in all quadrants and leakage in macular area suggestive of Mod NPDR + ME ,LE showing blocked fluorescence with pigments in periphery.OCT RE suggested Macular edema.ERG LE shows reduction in amplitude of 'a' and 'b' waves.
RESULTS:RE diagnosed as NPDR with ME, we proceeded with RE intravitreal INJ AntiVEGF.LE prognosis explained, genetic counselling done and low vision aids prescribed.
CONCLUSION: Usually RP occurs bilaterally, rarely in this case presented unilaterally.Hence this case reported.
