Abstract
Type of study- Prospective randomised comparative study
Purpose-compare the efficacy of 0.03% Tacrolimus e/o & 0.05% Cyclosporin e/d in refractory cases of VKC in children of above 5 year age.
Methods-A total 50 pt of VKC were divided in to two group, in which 25 randomised to 0.03% Tacrolimus e/o group & 25 randomised for 0.05% Cyclosporin e/d group & regularly follow up for improvement of signs & symptoms .
Results -Through regular follow up while treating these two groups pt it’s found that Tacrolimus is more effective than Cyclosporin in refractory cases of VKC to improve sign and symptoms.
Conclusion-Tacrolimus is more effective as compare to Cyclosporin while treating refractory cases of VKC.
* refractory case that show persistence of sign & symptoms despite of receiving a topical 1% prednisone acetate or use of systemic steroid t/t for >3 months or cases in which there was relapse after tapering or withdrawal of steroids.
