Abstract

Study design: Case Report
Purpose: To describe a case of optic disc pit with sudden central diminution of vision, highlighting its clinical significance.
Methods: A middle-aged women reported with sudden, painless central diminution of vision in her right eye one month prior to presentation. The BCVA of the right eye and left eye was 6/18 and 6/9 respectively. Anterior segment examination was unremarkable. Fundoscopy revealed an optic disk pit (ODP) with central macular oedema involving papillomacular bundle. Perimetry of Right eye showed central scotoma, OCT revealed subfoveal serous RD, intraretinal cysts with oedema of papillomacular bundle.
Conclusion: ODP is typically an incidental finding. Rarely, may cause visual field defects and macular involvement. Hence, in patients with central scotoma & ODP, macular involvement should be considered for diagnosis and prompt management. The emerging management for ODP maculopathy is PPV combined with inverted ILM flap
