Abstract
This retrospective study from august 2023 to March 2024 in a tertiary care hospital in northern India aim to delineate the microbiological profile and visual outcome of postoperative endophthalmitis following intravitreal antibiotic injection & core vitrectomy.The study include patient developing endophthalmitis within six months of surgery.Treatment based on severity involved either intravitreal antibiotic injections or core vitrectomy.Ocular samples(anterior chamber or vitreous tap)were subjected to microbiological examination including KOH mount,culture sensitivity,and gram stain.In analysis of 100 patients Culture positivity was noted in 88% of cases with Micrococcus being the most common organism(45 patients),followed by Staphylococcus aureus(32 patients).Staphylococcus saprophyticus,Peptococcus,and Citrobacter were also identified in few patients.KOH mount was positive in 5 patients.Visual outcome were 6/60-35,6/36-48,6/24-12 and few were PR defective and had finger count vision
