Abstract
DESIGN prospective, interventional, comparative study
PURPOSE compare effectiveness of bandage contact lens soaked in ketorolac ophthalmic solution and refrigerated bandage contact lens in pain modulation post photorefractive keratectomy (PRK)
METHODS 20 patients with bilateral PRK surgery were included. 0.4% ketorolac soaked BCL was applied to the right and refrigerated BCL was applied to left eye of patients. Pain score was assessed using numerical rating scale (NRS)
RESULTS On PoD1,mean pain score with refrigerated BCL was 6.0±2.4 and 3.6±2.1 with ketorolac soaked BCL. 75.56% patients reported reduced pain scores with ketorolac soaked BCL, 19.28% with refrigerated BCL, 5.16% of patients reported no difference in pain score
CONCLUSION use of refrigerated BCL, a very simple method for post PRK pain reduction, showed positive results in the study population but was not superior than ketorolac soaked BCL.
