Abstract
A 22 year old male presented with progressive loss of vision and deviation in OD since 6 years. Unaided VA OD was FC 2m and OS was 6/6. Exotropia present in OD. Slit lamp examination OD showed iris coloboma inferonasally. Fundus examination-large typical incomplete chorioretinal coloboma, hyperpigmentation at the boundaries and an anomalous disc. OS examination-anterior segment unremarkable while fundus showed a small aborted coloboma inferior to the disc. B-scan of OD- low to medium echogenic membrane inferior to the optic nerve head indicating an intercalary membrane which is inherently susceptible to retinal breaks and retinal detachment. OCT of OD- increased CDR of 0.7, inferior RNFL thinning and central macular thickening with dull foveal reflex. OCT of OS- CDR 0.2, macula normal. Treatment-Prophylactic laser photocoagulation in eyes with chorioretinal coloboma reduces the occurrence of retinal detachment. Our patient was counseled for the same and kept on 6 months follow up.
