Abstract
Study Design- Case Report
Purpose – To highlight uncommon cause of ischemic Optic neuropathy
Methods-Case-1: 62yr old male patient with no comorbidities experienced sudden painless DOV 3 months back, diagnosed with optic neuritis. . Patient was then put on IV followed by Prednisolone in tapering dose for 3 months. After 3 months of onset of the symptoms, neuro-ophthalmic evaluation including systemic examination showed abnormal LE findings including fundus,however RE was normal. Left sided superficial temporal artery was hard, tender, cord like,non-pulsatile.Blood tests showed raised ESR & CRP, rest investigations were normal. Temporal artery biopsy suggestive of GCA. Patient was again put on IV Methyl Prednisolone followed by oral Prednisolone. Hence this is case of Occult GCA without any systemic association.
Results:-Based on above mentioned history and relevant tests a diagnosis of Occult GCA without any systemic associations was made.
