Abstract

The basis of manual small incision cataract surgery is the tunnel construction. It’s a 3 planar self-sealing wound. It requires skill and precision to minimize the risk of complications such as wound leak, infection, and induced astigmatism. This video highlights and teaches the basic principles of wound construction – hand movement and angulation of instruments using animation and multiple surgical videos.
