Abstract
Many times you are stuck during surgery with both the hands engaged. At this point you need a third hand and that is where the OT assistant can help but not in just assisting. This is a case of a small eye with intumescent cataract requiring 30 D IOL. The surgeon was struck intraoperatively during capsulorhexis due to excessive shallowing of anterior chamber and could neither could proceed with the surgery nor could withdraw the instrument from the eye. It is then the OT assistant performed a certain step and came to the rescue.
