Abstract
Trypan blue staining of the posterior capsule or vitreous is commonly reported in cases with zonular compromise like trauma, surgery or pseudoexfoliation. The dye per se does not cause any toxic effect on the retinal pigment epithelium cells as reported in animal and human study but the blue fundal can obscure the red glow that can lead to unexpected intraoperative complications while doing phacoemulsification. Here in this video , we demonstrate an effective way of creating a viscoelastic barrier to prevent such situation in a case of traumatic cataract with large zonular dehiscence.
