Abstract
This is a prospective non randomised, controlled, single centre clincal follow up study of cataract patients implanted with Xtnd trifocal IOL and Adtec Comfort IOL. Post operative evaluation was recorded at one month. Primary outcome measures were distance corrected intermediate and near visual acuity, distance visual acuity, defocus curve, contrast sensitivity and dysphotopsias.
With regard to distance visual acuity of both IOLs, P value was statistically not significant. Xtnd Trifocal had a statistically significant better distance corrected intermediate and near visual acuity than Comfort IOL Contrast sensitivity was better with Comfort IOL. Defocus range was better with Xtnd trifocal IOL. Complain of glare was more with Xtnd.
Distance visual acuity was good with both IOLs. Although Comfort IOL provided fair degree of improvement in intermediate and near vision, Xtnd provided significantly better intermediate and near acuity. Contrast sensitivity was better with comfort IOL.
