Abstract
Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty involves selective removal and replacement of diseased corneal layers; preserving host descemet endothelial complex.
Rationale: In Bihar, no analysis has been done on DALK.
Aims and objectives:
● Primary objective: to determine the indications for DALK.
● Secondary objective: to evaluate intraoperative and postoperative complications.
Data overview:
Total 35 patients have been enrolled.
Mean age was 32.83
Male : Female ratio- 20:15.
Laterality- bilateral but asymmetrical.
Most common indication was Keratoconus followed by healed keratitis.
Best corrected vision obtained was LE 6/9 with best fit cylinder of -4.75 at 45 degrees
Complications included
2 intraoperative microperforations
3 cases of intraoperative DMD
2 cases of double AC formation
1 case of multifocal viral keratitis
2 episodes of stromal rejection
1 case of interface keratitis
1 case of interface haze
1 case of Urrets Zavalia syndrome.
3 cases of irreversible graft failure
