Abstract
Purpose:To report changes in retinal layers overlying areas of ellipsoid zone loss in type 2 maculartelangiectasia(MacTel) based on spectral domain optical coherence tomography(SDOCT) and Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)
Method:40 eyes of 22 patients with Mactel 2 over a period of 6 months were examined using OCT and OCTA.Retinal changes overlying EZ loss was analysed in OCT. Images of the superficial and deep capillary plexus were analyzed and compared with en-face angioflow images of the outer retina and en-face image of the EZ.
Results:Among SDOCT features hyper reflectivity of the middle retinal layers, hyporeflective outer and inner retinal cavities were the most frequently detected abnormality. On OCTA outer retinal capillary invasion was noted corresponding to areas of EZ loss
Conclusion:The described SDOCT features are practical for the diagnosis and staging in type 2 MacTel.OCTA shows capillary proliferation in the outer retina corresponding to areas of EZ loss
