Abstract
Purpose-To compare efficacy of oral lactoferrin with conventional treatment in patients with mild tomoderate DED at a tertiary care hospital.Method- In Prospective interventional comparative study,16 patients of mild to moderate DED were divided into OL (8 patients) and CT (8 patients) group. OSDI score, BCVA ,Tear meniscus height, TBUT, Schirmer’s test, Fluorescein staining of both the groups were evaluated and compared pre treatment and post treatment at the end of 3 months.Result-The mean age of the OL group and CT group was 36 ± 18 years and 35±17years, respectively. At the end of 3 months, OSDI score was lesser in the OL group as compared to CT group. Post treatment improvement in CFS score, TBUT and schirmer’s score in the OL group was higher as compared to that in the CT group.1 patient each were lost to follow up in the both group . Conclusion: Oral Lactoferrin is effective in treating patients with mild to moderate dry eye disease patients.
