Abstract
To compare the efficacy of using combination of ocular lubricants&lid taping with the use of moisture chamber goggles to prevent exposure keratopathy.method:62 patients were randomly divided into 2groups.Group1 receiving ocular lubricants and lid taping,Group2 receiving moisture chamber goggles which acts as a closed moisture chamber.Details about duration of stay&detailed eye examination including lagophthalmos,bells phenomenon,blink rate.chemosis,pupillary reaction &corneal change were assessed.Results:Patients in both groups exhibited a status quo in terms of ocular surface hydration.1patient in the closed chamber group an epithelial defect was noted which healed on application of sodium hyaluronate.Conclusion:Patients in ICU with low consciousness are unable to convey ophthalmological complaints.Lubricants&lid taping is tedious task&sometimes not done properly.so using above goggles is comparatively less tedious task&could be an effective method in preventing exposure keratitis
