Abstract
This is a short video demonstrating the technique, uses, complications and tips and tricks for ECP. It is a minimally invasive cyclodestructive procedure which is safe and effective in seeing eyes as well as refractory glaucoma. ECP directly acts on ciliary processes causing minimal collateral damage. Hence it has been used in a wide variety of glaucoma types including primary open angle glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma, pediatric glaucoma, plateau iris configuration, neovascular glaucoma, and other refractory glaucomas. ECP is now being used routinely in conjunction with cataract extraction for moderate to severe glaucoma to reduce the IOP and number of medications post op. As with any surgical procedure, ECP is also associated with intra-operative and post-operative complications. IOP spike, fibrin exudate, corneal edema, pupil irregularity are the most common and minor complications. Rare complications are vitreous hemorrhage, cystoid macular oedema, choroidal or retinal detachment.
