Abstract
Study design
Prospective Randomised interventional study at Guru Nanak eye centre over 12 months.
Purpose
To compare both groups in improvement in visual acuity and stereopsis.
Method
Patients between 3 to 14 years of age group of unilateral mild to moderate amblyopia , strabismic or anisometropic . Patients excluded with previous ocular surgery, previous amblyopia treatment, presence of organic cause . 70 patients , 35 per group. GroupA received simultaneous and group B received sequential treatment. Patients were followed up at 1,6,9 and 12 weeks .
Result
showed no significant difference between both group in terms of distance or near visual acuity, p value 0.58 and 0.93 respectively. Mean stereoacuity showed significant difference between both groups at 9 weeks and 12 weeks, p value 0.044 and 0.036 respectively.
Conclusion
Sequential refractive correction and patching improves stereoacuity which is statistically more significant.
