Abstract

Study design: cross sectional
Purpose: Correlating neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), Serum Ferritin, and IL-6 with OCTA changes in Diabetic Macular Edema (DME).
Methods: This tudy recruited 30 individuals aged 40-70 years with type 2 DM and DME. Blood samples were collected to measure NLR, MPV, PDW, serum ferritin, IL-6, and HbA1c levels. OCT and OCTA scans were performed for the worse eye to assess retinal morphology and microvasculature. Statistical analysis, including correlation and regression analysis, was conducted to evaluate the association markers and OCTA parameters.
Results revealed significant correlations between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and OCTA parameters.
Conclusion: NLR, MPV, and PDW showed associations with OCTA parameters, suggesting the potential implications of systemic inflammation in diabetic retinopathy progression.
