Abstract
Primary open angle glaucoma is a chronic progressive optic neuropathy. Longer axial length in eyes of myopia related to weaker connective tissue support at optic nerve head and kamina cribrosa region.
Method-
Study design-Observational
Sample size -150 eyes of 150 patients
Inclusion criteria-Patient with myopia
Age 20 years or above
No history of previous surgery
Exclusion criteria-History of previous surgery (Intraocular Or refractive surgery)
Result -Majority of our patients were unaware of increased risk of glaucoma. The IOP increased significantly with age and with high degrees of myopia.
The Central corneal thickness was found to decrease significantly with age and with higher degrees of myopia.
Conclusion-Myopia is an important risk factor for primary open angle glaucoma development, it's incidence increasing with moderate to high myopia.
