Abstract

Study design- Case control study
Purpose-To find out association of serum lipid levels with primary open angle glaucoma.
Methods-12 patients with POAG and 12 controls who were healthy subjects were investigated. 12hr fasting serum lipid including total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, HDL were compared among cases and controls.
Results-High total cholesterol was found in 5 cases and 2 controls; high LDL levels found in 7 cases and 3 controls;low HDL levels in 10 cases and 7 controls.
Conclusion-POAG patients have more dyslipidemia compared to age matched controls.
