Abstract
Study design – Prospective case series
Purpose – To study the colour changes of skin graft and secondary graft contraction following FTSG for correction of eyelid deformity.
Methods – Sample size- 20 patients.
Adult patients with eyelid deformity to be corrected by FTSG were recruited. Patients with periorbital soft tissue loss and patients with history of radiotherapy were excluded. Parameters studied were graft colour changes, secondary graft contraction and amount of deformity correction. Data was collected on day 2,day 4,day7,1 month,3 months,6 months.
Results-Thermochemical injury was the commonest etiology. Significant reduction in graft size was noted till 3 months follow up. Pink discolouration of graft (suggestive of vascular flow) was seen 2nd day onwards. At 1 month follow up, most patients had hypopigmented graft. Following which, the graft matched the surrounding skin on next follow ups.
Conclusion- Skin grafting is an effective procedure for eyelid deformity correction.
