Abstract
STUDY DESIGN:Prospective interventional study over 6 months
PURPOSE:To study clinical features,etiology,management and outcome in patients with Peripheral ulcerative keratitis.
METHODS:22 eyes of 12 patients with PUK were evaluated.Ocular and systemic evaluation with relevant investigations were done.Patients were managed medically and surgically.
RESULTS:66% were men with mean age 70.Bilateral disease was seen in 83%.Vision at presentation was 6/60 to PL.Uveitis,scleritis, meibomitis,descemetocele,perforation,secondary infection were seen in patients.2 were positive for RA factor,3 for ANA,1 for Mantoux and 1 was positive for RA and Mantoux. Topical steroids were started in 10 non-infectious cases. Conjunctival recession with cyanoacrylate BCL was done in 10, Corneal patch graft in 2 cases with perforation. Recurrence was seen in 4 cases.
CONCLUSION:5 were negative for all investigations and Moorens ulcer was found to be the most common.Systemic disease was managed by Physician.
