Abstract
AIM: To assess the effectiveness and safety of Ab interno µhook trabeculotomy(LOT) with phacoemulsification in patients with mild-mod POAG. Methods:Prospective, comparative study where114 eyes were divided into 2groups;G1:Phaco LOT,G2:onlyPhaco.Demographics,preop&postopIOP,Degrees of LOT,complications& IOP spikes were compared. Results: Mean preop IOP in G1[26.45±5.2mmHg]reduced significantly at postop 1,3&6 month to 12.43±3.6, 11.29±2.9&10.98±3.2mmHg respectively,in G2[25.33±3.1mmHg]significantly reduced to17.74±2.5, 17.58±2.2&18.19±1.7mmHg respectively(p<0.001).At postop 6 month,AGMs reduced more in G1[0.58(0.9)to 0.14(0.4) ] compared to G2[1.37(0.6)to 0.86(0.7)](p<0.001). In both grps VA improved significantly. In G1,IOPreduction was correlated to the degree of LOT.Most common postop complication in G1was Hyphema(5.3%)&corneal edema(8.8%) in G2.Conclusion:Combined Phaco-LOT is efficacious in early POAG without increasing the risk above standard phacoemulsification
