Abstract
PURPOSE- To study clinical profile of NAION & its association with systemic diseases. METHODS- Prospective Observational done on 32 patients of NAION and 32 controls. Detailed history including smoking history and relevant laboratory investigation for various systemic diseases was done. Comprehensive ophthalmic examination and special test like colour vision, contrast sensitivity, OCT, HFA, FFA was done. RESULT-The mean age of presentation was 54yrs, with male preponderance. Smokers were 42%. DM was found in 63%, HTN in 47%, hyperlipidaemia in 32%, OSA risk in 60%. All association was statistically significant (p value less than 0.05), except for hyperlipidaemia and smoking. CONCLUSION- CONCLUSION- Till now very few studies have been conducted on Indian population to determine the association of various risk factors including OSA with Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. This study is an attempt to make an addition to the existing knowledge about NAION
