Abstract
Study design:cross-sectional study
Purpose:To educate about eye donation,awareness and willingness to pledge for eye donation among inpatients
Methods: A sample size of 250 inpatients of the tertiary care centre were selected.A structured questionnaire was given to assess participants knowledge,awareness and behavioral practices regarding eye donation.
Results:This study suggested the majority of the respondents 45.2% were below 40 years and 55.6% were males. Awareness about eye donation was 48.2% but a willingness to pledge was observed in 10% of participants.Factors influencing knowledge, awareness, and behavioral practices were also analyzed.
Conclusion:This was first study among admitted patients highlights the need for improved awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to enhance knowledge and promote positive behavioral practices regarding eye donation .Such efforts are crucial for addressing the gap between supply and demand of corneal tissue in eye banking.
