Abstract
A 15 year old girl with DOV in the left eye for 1 month presented with an optic disc pit & NSD . Underwent a 23g vitrectomy, macular sparing ILM peel and a Human amniotic membrane graft. Innovative way to measure the pit size & precisely fashion the graft and then placed bimanually using a nitinol loop and a tano scraper over the disc pit. Disc based ILM flap secured the graft in place followed by gas tamponade .Postop day 1; well attached retina and dry macula with the graft well in place . 3 month period was uneventful and showed complete resolution of the NSD and no reoccurances. BCVA improved from 20/80 to 20/40. Microperimetry at 3 months was comparable in both eyes.Optic disc pit surgery has been ever controversial. Persistent fluid, late resolution & recurrences have lead to doubts on the perfect procedure . Ham grafting promises gratifying results with anatomical and visual gain. These were sustained in our case for over a period of 2 years .
