Abstract
This video demonstrates amniotic membrane grafting for treating recurrent episodes of bullous cornea in a female patient aged 48 years who underwent penetrating keratoplasty and SICS in two sittings 25 years back in the right eye. Now presenting with decreased vision, eye pain, reflex lacrimation and photophobia since 3 months with HM. Under peribulbar block, the scarred and bullous epithelium was scraped off meticulously up to the limbus. A peritomy was performed with excision of 2 mm of conjunctival strip. 3×3 mm amniotic membrane preserved in Dulbecco's modified eagle medium was evenly spread on the cornea without wrinkling and adjusted up to the excised conjunctival margin. The graft was anchored first at 4 quadrants just within the limbus at 6 o clock, 12 o clock, 9 o clock, and 3 o clock positions using 10-0 ethilon sutures. Another concentric ring of sutures applied to approximate the amniotic membrane and healthy conjunctival margin. Vision improved to CF@3 m after 1 month.
