Abstract
Various Flap related complications after LASIK can occur especially for a beginner like Incomplete flap,Free Cap,Button Hole,Flap Striae and Epithelial Ingrowth.Flap striae, visible as wrinkles in the flap tissue compromise visual outcomes.Examination with retroillumination is extremely useful in detecting the striae. Faint striae can be detected by the uneven pooling of tear film after instilling fluoroscein.
Different techniques is used in the management.
1. Lifting the flap, rehydrating and re stretching back in position.
2. Stroking the folded flap with a moist sponge.
3. Flap double twist technique with wet merocel microsponge and moving the flap away from hinge position and
repositioning by
applying horizontal pressure
in two opposite direction.
4. Suturing leading to mechanical stretching of flap to surgical intervention.
We shall demonstrate the different techniques of management of the Flap Wrinkles and Epithelial Ingrowth along
with the challenges a beginner might face.
