Abstract
A young myopic patient came with c/o sudden diminution of vision in his RE diagnosed with Rhegmatogenous Retinal detachment in affected eye and lattice degeneration with holes in other eye.
He was having unusual long axial length of 36.56 mm in RE and that posed surgical challenge while operating. Patient was underwent pars plana vitrectomy with Endo laser and silicone oil temponade in RE and barrage laser in LE.
While induction of PVD intraoperatively I use different methodology of how to induce it in such unusual long axial length. It was learning curve for us and this case taught us the significance of PVD induction in Rheg RD cases and importance of pre operative axial length measurements.
