Abstract
MIKULICZ disease is a well-known rare disorder characterized by enlarged lacrimal and parotid. Mikulicz Disease (MD) was first presented by Johann Mikulicz in 1888 at a meeting of the Society for Scientific Medicine in Königsberg. In 1933, Sjogren described histological similarities between MD and Sjogren Syndrome (SS) and suggested that MD was a subtype of SS. Mikulicz disease is known to affect more females than males and most often presents during the middle adult years. The exact cause of MD is not known, although it is suspected to be an autoimmune disorder, where the symptoms of MD may occur due to the excessive accumulation of IGG4 plasma cells into many glands of the face, mouth, and/or neck. In this abstract we report a case of a 55 year old lady who presented with swelling of the eyelids and cheeks on both the sides for last 1 year.
